10-30-2016 Update

Hi everybody! I'm going to update you on where the heck I've been.

First off, I'm not dead. The lack of posts is mainly because of school becoming more consuming and having a lack of free time and when I do have free time I'm working on personal projects.

If you want to know of the kind of projects I do you can see my personal Twitter were I post random stuff there, you can find me @AnimationJosh. I'm also on sites like Deviantart to test my art skills and improve on them which are at this link: http://jkdoodler.deviantart.com.

Also, I'm thinking for taking another break until late December or sometime in January, I know I do this a lot but I need time to relax every know and then. I will also post updates on the offical Twitter for the blog which is @ALittleLampBlog.

I return soon, but until then see you soon!

Post 232: Pixar's Sequel Phase to End + Four New Original Movies Planned

Image made by Pixar Post
Hi everybody! It's finally time for me to give you some important and very exciting Pixar news to you! So let's get started!

Pixar in the 2010s has been pretty interesting.
Of the 11 films that have been released and are coming out in the 2010s, 7 of those movies are sequels. With those films being:
  • Toy Story 3 (2010)
  • Cars 2 (2011)
  • Monsters University (2013)
  • Finding Dory (2016)
  • Cars 3 (2017)
  • Toy Story 4 (2018)
  • Incredibles 2 (2019)
Pixar has been not as remembered fondly as they were in the late '90s and the entirety of the '00s. With many people saying that Pixar has become a sequel factory and not putting out as much original films as they did. Even with some of them (Toy Story 3 and Finding Dory) being praised by critics. But now in a interview with Pixar president Jim Morris, it looks like those sequels are finally going to be rare again for Pixar to be doing them.

The Pixar Points #25: A Pixar Fan's Thoughts on 'Tomorrowland'

Hi everybody! Time for another Pixar Points, where I look at a topic in the Pixar fandom and give my opinion on it. Brad Bird is an amazing director and his best work is definitely in animation with three of his current lineup on films being animated and two of those (The Incredibles and Ratatouille) were made at Pixar. But recently he has gone out of his animated norm at has brought us Mission Impossible 4 (which I haven't seen yet) and last year's Tomorrowland which is the movie we are gong to be taking about today and giving my thoughts on it.

Pixar Reviews: 'George & A.J.'

Hi everybody! I've haven't reviewed Pixar's shorts in a while but its time to get back on track and hopefully review them all (or at least most of them) before the release of Finding Dory. So the first short I'm reviewing after this hiatus is an interesting short, I'll get to that later. But that short in question is the 2009 short George & A.J.

Post 224: News Quickie: New 'Finding Dory' Poster!

BEFORE WE GET INTO THIS POST I WHAT YOU TO KNOW THAT I MISCOUNTED THE POST NUMBER! Sorry for this but I've renamed the posts with the wrong number.

Hi everybody! Welcome to another News Quickie! As expected we are getting tons of news on Finding Dory and I'm here to talk about some of them. Though there are multiple short stories about the upcoming film we are only going to focus on a few.

Starting things of, we have gotten the new poster for movie which is very similar to the first film's poster and the first film's teaser poster. It looks very nice and I can definitely see this poster hanging up on my wall one day. Also, notice how Hank looks angry, I'm not saying that he is the villain its just an observation.

Also, on Twitter there is a trending topic known as the #FindingDoryEvent. from what I'm reading it looks like some people got to see a sneak peek of the film and learn some facts about the movie at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. One interesting fact that was taught at the event was that 103,639 storyboards were used to create the film to go see pictures and articles of the event go here.

One last short news story was that we know more about the plot of the film because of this official, updating plot summary:

"Disney•Pixar's Finding Dory welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence) and Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks). When Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium.

In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents:

  • Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip
  • Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz
  • Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark.

Deftly navigating the complex innerworkings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family."

These are some great stories which are great for the hype of the movie and we'll be sure to see more stories of the movie as we get closer to June 17th and Ill see you soon!

What are your thoughts on the poster and these other news stories?

Post 222: 'Inside Out' Wins Best Animated Picture & Other Pixar Events at The Oscars

Yesterday I released the 24th post of The Pixar Points where I talked about Pixar a this years Oscars, which you can read right here. Pixar was up for three awards last night but they only took home one, but to the shock of no one it was obvious that they would win in this category, but they deserve it.

The Pixar Points #24: Should Have 'Inside Out' Been Nominated for Best Picture?

Hi everybody! Time for another Pixar Points! The "biggest night for movies", The Oscars are tonight (at 7p.m. for Eastern and 4p.m. for Pacific) and Pixar is up a couple of awards:
  • Sanjay's Super Team for Best Animated Short
  • Inside Out for Original Screenplay
  • Inside Out for Best Animated Picture
But there is one award that some people think Pixar should have been nominated and could have won: Inside Out for Best Picture.

Post 221: News Quickie: First Full 'Finding Dory' to Be Released March 2nd

Hi everybody! Time for another News QuickieFinding Dory is a 2016 sequel to the '03 classic Finding Nemo which will release this Summer. We got a teaser near the end of last year to be seen with The Good Dinosaur. Pixar fans have been waiting for the first full teaser to be released and now there is.
So mark your calendars! This Wednesday, March 2nd will see the release of the Finding Dory trailer which will premiere on The Ellen Show (and most likely the Ellen Show YouTube). Ellen's show airs at 4p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Channel 8 for me, but you can see where the show airs for you wherever you live. The trailer will most likely air on YouTube and Ellen's EllenTube, because  most of the time when stuff premieres on The Ellen Show it is released on YouTube and EllenTube first. So get ready for one of the most looked forward to trailers (for Pixar fans at least) everywhere because the trailer is coming! Until then, see you soon!

Pixar Review: 'The Good Dinosaur'

Hi everyone! I think it is about time to talk about Pixar's 2nd movie of 2015 and second film overall. This movie is going down recently as "Pixar's first box office flop", does it deserve that? Let's find out!

The Plot:
This movie is about a constantly worried dinosaur named Arlo, when something happens to his family he needs to team up with a young human boy named Spot to get back home.

I guess I should talk about the elephant in the room when talking about this movie, if you don't know what happened let me explain. So, Bob Peterson (one of Pixar's biggest story people and voice actors) was going to direct the movie but then the story wasn't working, thus not making Bob not the director anymore. For a long time the movie didn't have a director until Pete Sohn (director of the short film Partly Cloudy) stepped in for the director and this is his director debut. Did the story suffer from this? The last Pixar movie this happened to was Brave and I still think the story suffered because of this. But did this movie's story suffer? Lets find out.

February 2016 Update

Hi everybody! Here is a small little update I about what I have planned this month.

Pixar Review: The Good Dinosaur - I'm finally going to review Pixar's 16th movie, did I think it was good? You'll have to wait to find out.

The Pixar Points #24: Should Have Inside Out Have Been Nominated for Best Picture? - I will talk about the lack of Inside Out on the Oscar's Best Picture list.

I will also talk about some of the news stories coming out.

Anyways, see you soon!

Post 219: News Quickie: New 'Finding Dory' Concept Art Shows Two New Characters

Hi everybody! Welcome back to A Little Lamp! The blog is back and better than ever and that means more news, reviews, and opinion pieces! I have big things planned for this blog this year, but let's start small with a News Quickie. Also, I'm not going to talk about the news stories that happened while I was gone, since there is too much, but you can look at those stories at other great Pixar blogs. Anyways, let's talk about Finding Dory!

Finding Dory is the movie I'm most looing forward to this year and you can expect lots of posts about the film this year as we get closer and closer to the film release. While I was gone Pixar and Disney released the teaser for the film while you can look at here:

Recently, we have gotten new concept art on two of the newest characters, Bailey, the beluga whale and Destiny, the whale shark. Bailey is voiced by Ty Burell and Destiny is voiced by Kaitlin Olson, it is said that in the film the two get on each other's nerves a lot and share playful banner. They also play an important part of the story as the two try to help Dory find their parents.

I think these two can be really great characters that could be as beloved as the side characters in the original Finding Nemo that I really love.

Article found at:

I hope you enjoyed your first news story of the year. I plan on doing a lot more posts than in 2015, so until next time, see you soon!
