The Pixar Points #18: Pixar's Directors

Hi everybody! Pixar movies are good for a reason: the people. The workers at Pixar always try to make their movies and shorts the best they can. One of the most important people that make the movies the way they are is the director. Pixar has had many talented directors. But are they good directors? Which are the best? Let's look at the wonderful world of Pixar's directors.

Pixar Review: 'Jack-Jack Attack'

Poster for Jack-Jack AttackHi everybody! Most babies are cute, even if they might have super powers. But it would be bad if you had to take care of a super baby as seen in this short, Jack-Jack Attack!

Babysitter Kari thinks Jack-Jack will be a piece of cake to take care of. But she doesn't know the terror that will happen when you babysit Jack-Jack. So Kari has to deal with Jack-Jack's "special needs".

The Pixar Legacy:
Being a direct-to-DVD short there isn't that much to talk about here. I can tell Pixar took time to make this short, but there isn't that much about the impact of this short. The short doesn't have that much of a legacy expect it was supposed to be a part of the actual movie. I would say this short doesn't have a Pixar legacy, but does that mean it is bad?

So let's dive into the world of Pixar's animated sidekicks!

Post 202: Quickie: Train of Thought Artwork

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! Pixar Post has posted a news story that shows that the Walt Disney Family Museum is doing an exhibit that shows the history of Disney trains, and one of the trains is of course the train of thought from Inside Out. They have new concept art, which gives us a good idea of what it will look like.

Of course, we saw the train of thought from this recently found still. But this is the first time we are seeing the entire train and the train station. The train station concept art is by Daniel Holland and Ralph Eggelston and the train of thought concept art is by Shelly Min Wan. I personally love both of these pieces of art, they both show how vast Riley's mind is going to be in the movie. I want to note that in the train of thought concept art you see a little Joy and Sadness next to the train.

My guess in that in the movie Joy and Sadness sneak on the caboose and then try to find Headquarters. I say that because you see them by the caboose in the concept art and you see them in the caboose in the still. Anyways, what ever happens us Pixar fans will see the movie anyway and I will see you soon!

Post 201: TOYS! TOYS! TOYS!

Hi everybody! Fans love collecting toys, either if it's a plush or action figure. Pixar has always been making toys for their loved franchises and now their are going to be more Pixar toys coming your way!

"Earlier today Disney Consumer Products released new and exclusive details regarding the toy lines for Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur by TOMY. As stated in the press release:
Both films will have robust toy lines from best-in-class licensee TOMY, whose innovative approach, strength in international markets and ability to reflect Pixar's unique storytelling in its product lines made them the ideal choice for Pixar Animation Studios' most exciting year yet.
The Inside Out inspired toys are sure to be a hit with fans as the posable figures (Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear and Disgust) have light up features - which is sure to bring the magic of these characters to life (as they have a slight glow in the film).  It was John Lasseter who was drawn to the toy company TOMY, "When I visited TOMY's headquarters in Japan, I was impressed by their commitment to quality and craftsmanship. The toys they've created for 'Inside Out' and 'The Good Dinosaur' are fantastic - they've truly brought our characters to life". You will notice the incredible amount of craftsmanship and detail that TOMY put into the making of the Inside Out toys (pictured below). Having each character modeled with their signature facial expression and body movement allows fans the chance to recreate scenes from the film with their own imaginative play!

Post 200: New 'Inside Out' Promo Animation!

Hi everybody! It's my 200th news article on this blog! We have covered many stories over the years from Blu-rays to the confirming of Finding Dory, The Incredibles sequel, Cars 3, and Toy Story 4. So for our 200th news article we have a news story that was found and was discussed on a topic for the forum on Pixar Post made by my PIX-R.113 user. So here is the scoop!

"Thanks to the keen eye of Pixar Post Forum user, PIX-R.113, our readers were made aware that the Disney Channel was advertising a sneak peek of Inside Out this evening at 7:30 PM. We anticipated that the sneak peek would be the television broadcast of the second trailer (more details can be found here, or you can watch the video below), but were happy to get a brief glimpse at some extra animation. The brief toolkit features Joy sneaking up on Fear and frightening him, sending him into an arm-flailing run!

Pixar Review: ' Boundin' '

Hi everybody! Don't worry if I haven't made a review in a while, let's just bound!

On a mountain a lamp is a popular animal with everyone loving to dance with him. But then, a sheep shearer buzzes off all of his hair. All of the other animals laugh at him, but then a jackalope makes him realize that it is okay.

The Pixar Legacy:
I can tell that they did put effort into this project, mostly shown by the good animation for its time. It has gotten referenced by the first Cars twice. The first is the jackalope being seen on the back of a SUV and the second being an easter egg on the DVD of a car version of the short. So I will say it has a Pixar legacy. But does it deserve it?

The Pixar Points #16: My Opinion of Circle 7 Animation

But did you know that Disney was almost going to make a company that would do nothing but Pixar sequels from Pixar works that they own? Well, I about to talk about them! This is Disney's short-lived Circle 7 Animation.

Post 199: Kohl's Cares About Pixar!

Hi everybody! Something that is awesome about Pixar is that they can do stuff for all kinds of things, either the animation industry or partner with people for charity events. And now you can donate to charity and get some cool Pixar-themed goodies with it. Here's the scoop!

"Kohl's department store just unveiled their new products for their Kohl's Cares line featuring some of our favorite Pixar characters as a series of plush toys and books. The Kohl's Cares program often features animated classics as well as new animated films with 100% of the proceeds being donated to charity. In fact, Kohl's mentions that, "Since its inception in 2000, our Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program has raised more than $257 million to support kids' health and education initiatives in communities nationwide".

Post 198: Quickie: The Train of Thought

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! We have been getting more and more stills of the movie as we get closer and closer to the release of Inside Out, this could be Pixar's big comeback after the recent movies. Anyways, here is the newest still from the movie.

The newest still shows Joy and Sadness (most likely when they get lost inside her head) in the "train of thought" and watching one of Riley's joyful memories. We don't  know that much about this location that much yet, but we will most likely will soon. It is also nice to see Sadness smiling and showing an emotion other then the one she represents. It reminds me of this clip from D23 Expo which shows Joy showing all kinds of emotions (as shown starting at the 0:16 mark). Anyways, stay tuned to this blog for more Inside Out news! See you soon!

What do you think of this still?

Pixar Review: 'Mike's New Car'

Hi everybody! It's a brand-new year! This year we will see all kinds of gadgets, cars, and of course Pixar movies. Speaking of which, today we will look at a Pixar short that is all about so something new... Mike's New Car.

After Mike earns enough money to get a six-wheeled car, he wanted to take it for a test drive. After Sulley gets in the car everything goes down hill. After has gone through enough pain he decides to do the ride by himself. A couple seconds after, he crashes it.

The Pixar Legacy:
This short doesn't get referenced as much in Pixar works as other shorts. The only thing I can give this short is that I can tell they tried to make this a great short. So, there isn't that much to talk about this time, so I am going to say it doesn't have a Pixar legacy. But that mean it's a bad short?
