Post 184: 'Toy Story 4' - "Can't Talk About It"

Hi everybody! The confirming of Toy Story 4 has made many people wanting to know more on the movie. But right now all that they can say is, "Can't talk about it."

"This past week was a nice treat for Pixar fans, as Tim Allen and Rashida Jones stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on separate episodes to chat about their upcoming projects. Fallon took the time to ask each of them about their involvement with the recently announced, Toy Story 4. Tim, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, jokes about working with Tom Hanks. While Rashida, who is penning the fourth installment of the franchise, really got us laughing as she, "can't talk about it". Jimmy also had us rolling when he asked Rashida what it's like inside Pixar Studios - his idea of Pixar is that everyone is on hover boards eating astronaut ice cream!" -Pixar Post

Post 182: The Good New Story Element

Hi everybody! The Good Dinosaur is starting to get attention with news, probably to say that they are still working on the movie and that it is coming. And now we have a new piece of concept art and a new story element from the movie.

"The Good Dinosaur hits theaters less than one year from now (November 25, 2015) and Pixar announced the one-year countdown by releasing a new piece of concept artwork along with an updated synopsis. Although we had already updated the concept artwork on our earlier post, we also decided to read the synopsis again to check if it was also updated - sure enough it was. Although the details mostly remain the same, we were excited to catch one new story element in the new plot description - a mention of a traumatic event happening within Arlo's family.

The Good Dinosaur asks the generations-old question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In theaters November 25, 2015, the film is a humorous and exciting original story about Arlo, a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart. After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way - a human boy. “The Good Dinosaur” is an extraordinary journey of self-discovery full of thrilling adventure, hilarious characters and poignant heart.
So, what are your thoughts on the "traumatic event" which unsettles Arlo's family? What could this be?" -Pixar Post

Well, this is interesting! Could the "traumatic event" be a loss of a family member? Did their home get destroyed? Does Arlo get lost or banished? Well, whatever the big event is I hope that big entire movie is one big event for Pixar.

What do you think the "traumatic event" is?

The Pixar Points #11: 'Finding Dory' - Good or Bad?

Hi everybody! On April of 2013, I checked the latest Pixar news, I jumped with joy with the news about Pixar making a sequel to Finding Nemo called Finding Dory. But now I am going to think, is this movie going to be good or bad? I've gathered details and news about the movie and am going to look closely at this question. Enjoy!

Pixar Review: 'Knick Knack'

Hi everybody! Sick of feeling like you have nothing to do, like a snow globe on a shelf? Well, here is my review of Knick Knack!

Living your entire life in a snow globe blizzard can be very boring sometimes, while the other knacks get to be free, Knick is forever stuck. But hen, a knack from sunny Miami invites Knick to come and play. Knick now will do anything to escape and be with the blonde. From TNT, to jackhammers, and even using his nose he tries it all. But then after he realizes he is now almost going to fall off of the shelf, then one little push makes Knick fall off of the shelf. Then he falls into a fish tank with a knack from Atlantis, but there the problem of him being stuck in the snow globe.

The Pixar Legacy:
After Pixar did many challenging projects they wanted to do something easier. This short is mentioned in the first two Toy Stories and in the first Cars movie, so apparently John Lasseter still remembers and likes the job he did. There isn't that much to say, but there is still prove to say that this short has a Pixar Legacy.

Post 181: Quickie: Jumping for Joy

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! It's the final Inside Out character profile and the of the week. But don't be sad because it is time to look at Joy.

Joy was Riley's first emotion she ever shown, until Sadness came along. She tries to be the leader of the other emotions, but that can be tricky. Joy is voiced by Amy Poehler who has voiced characters in animation before, mostly in T.V. and once and a while in movies. Some cool animation details about Joy is her wild and spikey hair and her bubbly appearance.

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for, the teaser trailer starring Joy and with her all-new piece of animation!
Joy looks like se is going to be an interesting character with her being the most important emotion, I feel like she is going to be one of most touching characters in the movie when it is released on June 19th. See you soon!

What is your favorite thing about Joy?

We all remember the 2012 short film, Partysaurus Rex, when it was released with the 3D version of Finding Nemo, and know you can get the short's pin! That is right! The short film we all know and love is know been given a pin. You can buy it on Amazon right here. I hope you enjoyed this very quick new story and I'll see you soon!
What is your favorite moment from the short?

Post 179: Reading Goes 'Inside Out'

We have already been seeing a lot of Pixar's Inside Out, a movie directed by Pete Doctor that will show people the little voices in your head, including a teaser trailer and the recent character posters and teasers. But now it is time to see what books the movie will have in store.

"We couldn't help but spread the word that a series of activity books, coloring books and reading books (including the amazing The Art of Inside Out) have been popping up on Amazon to pre-order. The books will be releasing between May - July 2015 and although that's a way off, it's still great to see the titles and merchandise (no covers have been released yet) already starting to appear for the highly anticipated film. We listed all of the titles sorted by release date below - click any title to pre-order the book.

-Pixar Post

Pixar usually offers great books that can get fans seeing a sneak peek or something new. I own last year's Monsters University yearbook, which acts like a real yearbook while adding stuff from the movie. I can't wait to see what lies in store for these books and I'll see you soon!

Which of these books sounds the most interesting?

Post 178: Quickie: Fear Fans

Hi everybody! It's time for another News Quickie! It is time to not fear, because the next character profile is Fear!

Fear is the emotion that tries to keep Riley safe from danger. Fear is voiced by Bill Hader who played two characters in Monsters University, the slug and the referee. And Bill will also voice a character in The Good Dinosaur, so is no stranger to Pixar. A couple of cool details about him is an antennae on his head and the old school animation floating eyebrows.

And here is the teaser with him, including an all-new piece of animation.

For some reason, I am really interested in Fear. I think it is because he looks most like a 2D animated character. I can't wait to see what Fear will get into on June 19th.
What is your favorite thing about Fear?

Post 177: Quickie: Anger Art

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! If you don't know up until Friday, we are looking in-depth at the emotions from Inside Out. And today, we don't have to get mad because we now have a profile on Anger.

Anger is the emotion in Riley's mind that tells her about the everything that seems bad to him. Anger is voiced by Lewis Black, who hasn't really done anything with animation expect every now and then. Some cool details about Anger is his feiry temper and his zig zag tie.

Also, like Sadness and Disgust, Anger now has a teaser trailer starring him in an all-new piece of animation.
I think Anger will be a fun character that can be a grump but who knows we may get to see a soft side to him in the movie. Anyways, Anger has great animation and I can't wait to see him get mad on June 19th.

What is your favorite thing about Anger?

Post 176: The Good New Story

Hi everyone! A while back it was confirmed that Peter Sohn is the new director of The Good Dinosaur. But we still has questions about the story that what has changed, now we now what has happened to Pixar's 16th movie.

"The LA Times released an article this evening highlighting a series of changes in store for The Good Dinosaur along with a new piece of concept artwork. The article really excites us regarding the story changes which have taken place as well as reveals a new piece of concept art which has a similarity to the original concept art released at the 2013 D23 Expo (shown below). So, what's new, what elements were changed and what about the directing change to Peter Sohn? We have summarized the elements of the article which answer those questions - to read the full article, head over to LA Times.

As in Peterson's version, the film still posits that an asteroid never hit the Earth and the dinosaurs never went extinct; a teenage Apatosaurus named Arlo takes a wild, young human boy named Spot as a pet.
We were excited to see that the premise for the story remained - the idea of the dinosaurs not becoming extinct after an asteroid missed the Earth was extremely intriguing to us.

Over the last year, Sohn has been quietly streamlining the story, a buddy comedy about a teenage dinosaur and a human boy, in preparation for a November 2015 release. "The heart of the story remains the same," Sohn said, in an interview last week. "It's always been about this young dinosaur growing up. But the world itself has changed a lot. Nature has become a character." Sohn has jettisoned some of Peterson's signature ideas, such as modeling the dinosaurs on Amish farmers, and added new elements, including treating nature as the film's antagonist.

We especially liked the section which shined light on how Sohn was eventually slotted into the Director's char and were happy to see a quick note about what veteran Pixarian (and original The Good Dinosaur) director is working on.
Sohn got the "Good Dinosaur" job after he presented a possible new version of the film in storyboards last summer, according to producer Denise Ream. Because of Sohn's relative inexperience, Ream enlisted some of Pixar's veteran department heads to help him finish "The Good Dinosaur," including production designer Harley Jessup and director of photography-lighting Sharon Calahan, both of whom lent "Ratatouille" much of its visual richness.
Peterson remains at Pixar and, according to Morris, has been working on Docter's next film, "Inside Out," and on "Finding Dory" as a writer." -Pixar Post
This answers so much questions I had after the news about there being changes to the story, I really think the idea of nature being an antagonist, it makes me wonder what it will be like in the final version. I can't wait to see what the final movie will be like and I'll see you soon!

What do you think of the new changes?

Post 175: Jim Morris, the New President of Pixar

Hi everyone! If the name Jim Morris sounds familiar to Pixar fans, it is because he has worked on a couple of their projects. But now is name is sure to be remembered to Pixar fans everywhere because of this news.

Jim Morris was the production executive on Ratatouille, the producer of WALL-E, a part of the senor staff in Up, and a part of the senior leadership team on Brave and Monsters University. And now he is the president of Pixar along with Ed Catmull. I am sure that Jim can be a great president that will bring something new to Pixar. Like if something has happened tat slows production down maybe he could help. There are many things that can be good for the company. I can't wait to see what Jim does to Pixar. And I will be interested if maybe he would direct one of Pixar's movies and see how that would turn out. Anyways, I don't have much to say expect that Morris will hopefully bring great things to Pixar.

What do you think of Jim Morris being the new president?

Post 174: Quickie: Disgust Display

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! Wow, we have a lot of Inside Out news today! And this week we have 5 posts that will look closely at a character in the movie. Earlier today we looked at Sadness, which was released on Monday. And Tuesday will be a look at Disgust.

Disgust is one of Riley's emotions and tries to make Riley be aware of something that is weird and disgusting to her, like broccoli. Disgust is voiced by Mindy Kalin who isn't a stranger to animation, she did voices in Wreck-It Ralph and the first Despicable Me movie. Some cool details that I've noticed about Disgust is that all the emotions have a metallic feeling to their hair and on Disgust she has long eyelashes that have the same feeling. Another detail is that there is cool detail on her dress including splats and super-detailed fabic.

Also, like Sadness, she has her own teaser that stars the character in an all-new piece of animation that I think really describes her character.
I think Pixar is doing a great job getting people interested in Inside Out. I think Disgust will be a interesting character that I even think might have funny lines. Disgust seems like a fun character that has a chance that I would like this character and maybe be one of my favorite characters of the movie. Anyways, stay tuned tomorrow for a look at either Joy, Fear, or Anger. See you soon!

What is your favorite thing about Disgust?

Post 173: New Posters Show Emotions

Pixar Post: Inside Out &emdash; Inside Out Character Profile: JoyHi everybody! On the last post I talked about the character of Sadness and her teaser and poster. But now it is time for the other four emotions to be in the spotlight.

"Yesterday, the first character profile poster from Inside Out featuring Sadness was released. We drooled over the details in Sadness' hair and mentioned that we couldn't wait to see the character profiles for the remaining emotions. Well today, thanks to MouseInfo, the remaining four characters profiles for Disgust, Fear, Joy and Anger were released - rounding out the emotional team members. Check out all of the profile posters below - click any of the images to view the high-resolution profiles in the Pixar Post Inside Out Gallery.

Pixar Post: Inside Out &emdash; Inside Out Character Profile: Disgust
Pixar Post: Inside Out &emdash; Inside Out Character Profile: Anger
Pixar Post: Inside Out &emdash; Inside Out Character Profile: Fear
Pixar Post: Inside Out &emdash; Inside Out Character Profile: Sadness
Similarly to our feelings about Sadness in yesterday's post, the profiles for the new emotions are absolutely stunning. The details and particulate matter are just so brilliant and we cannot wait to see these characters with their squash and stretch movements to see how the particles leave a ghost trail as they move." -Pixar Post
Something I want to note is that if Sadness has gotten her own teaser does this mean Joy, Disgust, Fear, and Anger will get their own teasers. Well, whatever happens I can not wait until June 19th. See you soon!
Which of these posters is your favorite?

Post 172: Quickie: Sadness Showcase!

Hi everybody! Time for another News QuickieInside Out seems too be a movie that is getting more interesting as time goes on. And we have two Inside Out news stories today, the first one looking closely at the character of Sadness.

"Have you ever had a case of the "Mondays"? Well, the perfectly-timed image release of Inside Out's aptly blue colored emotion, Sadness, was released via Mashable today. We knew the characters were made of particulate matter but as we get more high resolution looks at this movie, we're absolutely loving the details. As usual, Pixar is outdoing themselves again - if you look closely at Sadness' hair (shown below) the glittery glow is a beautiful conglomerate of dots in shades of indigo. Similarly, the "sweater fuzz" is so wonderfully close to life you can imagine the softness of the threads.

Pixar also uploaded a brief video of Sadness walking onto the screen in a sullen manner. If you are familiar with the first Inside Out teaser trailer, you'll notice that this isn't a new clip of Saddness though as this was shown at the close of the trailer." -Pixar Post
Sadness seems to be a interesting character so far of what we have seen, so far we haven't heard her voice but we seen a lot of her recently, but I think she will be a fun character, and if you are wonder about the other emotions, you will have to see the next news story to know more.
What is your favorite thing about Sadness?

The Pixar Points #10: A Closer Look at 'Toy Story'

Hi everyone! It's time for a new kind of Pixar Points called Closer Looks! Every now and then I will look at little secrets, easter eggs, and more of works of Pixar. First up is Toy Story, the first Pixar movie and first fully computer animated movie. I should note that I used the updated version of the movie which has the new current Disney logo and has the Pixar logo at the beginning, so if your following along with this post with the movie I should tell you that, you enjoy!

Post 171: Quickie: 'Inside Out' Gets 2 New Posters

Hi everyone! Time for another News Quickie! Inside Out is coming closer and closer and people (including me) are excited to see what Pete Docter has in store. And now we have these two poster to get a little peek of the new movie.

"Pixar has unveiled two new posters for its eagerly anticipated film, Inside Out! The first poster places emphasis on the various emotions, highlighting each one with the respective character.
The second poster (exclusive to the UK and Europe) is a striking image which brings out the premise of the film. The five main characters are clustered inside the silhouette of the human head, each posing according to their respective emotion.
From the looks of it, Inside Out is definitely emerging as one of Pixar’s most creative and unique projects till date. The film takes us inside the mind of a little girl and gives us a glimpse at how her emotions interact. It is being directed by Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc. and Up) and will release in the US on June 19, 2015." -Gary Wright, Rotoscopers

These are great and interesting posters that show that this is going to be a fun adventure that they have planned. Also, Anger in both posters has his fiery temper which we saw on the Disney Movies Anywhere sneak peek. I also love Sadness being depressed and laying on the floor. There isn't really anything new with Fear, Joy, and Disgust because they are using similar poses from previous images. Anyways, these are great posters and I'll see you soon!

What do you think of these posters?

Pixar Review: 'Tin Toy'

Hi everybody! Before Toy Story there was a short that starred toys coming to life, and that short is about to be given a review.

Babies are cute and fun to people, but for toys they are monsters meant to drool on everything. Tinny, a tin toy, is terrified of Billy, a baby, at first but later realizes that babies aren't that bad. But later the baby starts getting more interested in the baby that the toy came in.

The Pixar Legacy:
This short had multiple challenges that Pixar had not done before and some are good. It was the first to use Renderman and to have cartoony likeness to realistic features. Also later inspiring the story of Toy Story deserves credit. So, it is safe to say that this short has a Pixar Legacy.

The Pixar Points #9: Pixar's Villains

October might be over but that doesn't mean that we can't talk about villains. But not just any villains, Disney Villains! But not just any Disney Villains, PIXAR VILLAINS! Pixar villains are some of the best villains in animation that I've seen. In this we will look at 14 Pixar baddies and we will find of which of them is the best. So, let's look at the villains that we love to hate from Sid to Johnny. Here we go!

Pixar Review: 'Red's Dream'

Hi everybody! Everyone talks about the opening of Up and the ending of Toy Story 3, but before both of those there was this short described as Pixar as their blue period.

In a bike store, a unicycle named Red is going on a sale. In his dream world he pictures himself being the main vehicle for a clown named Lumpy. But then in the dream world, he pictures himself stealing the show and everyone loving him. But then he wakes up from the dream depressed.

The Pixar Legacy:
I feel like this was practice for people to take them seriously, what I mean is that is making people make them feel lots of emotion for their characters. You can say they did that for Luxo, Jr. already, but feel like this made people feel some real emotion. Also, the short is mentioned in the first two Toy Stories and WALL-E. So, I think this short does have a Pixar legacy.

Post 170: 'Toy Story 4' Is Coming! (UPDATED!)

Hi everybody! Remember how I said Inside Out getting a teaser would probably be the biggest 2014 Pixar news story. Well, not only did forget we also go the news about Incredibles 2, but also now we have this breaking news story that will probably let Pixar take over the internet for the rest of the year.

Toy Story 4 session - Image © Pixar / Debby Coleman

"Disney's quarterly earnings call took place Thursday afternoon and among the updates from the day, Bob Iger stunned audiences with the news that John Lasseter would return to the director's chair to create, Toy Story 4. The idea for the film, releasing on June 16, 2017, was pulled together by none other than Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich and John Lasseter - who were the driving force between the first three Toy Story features. John Lasseter also elaborated on some of his excitement for the project -
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”

Post 169: Quickie: 'Lava' For Consideration (UPDATED)

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! You read the title so, let's look at the quick news!

"The 2014/2015 awards season is right around the corner and though Pixar did not release a feature film this year, their newest short, LAVA, has qualified to advance in the "For Your Consideration" (FYC) runnings. Labeling a film as FYC is a promotional tool for film studios to notify voting members of the media that this particular film is in contention for the upcoming awards honors. Join us in congratulating the crew of LAVA as they take this first step towards awards season.

official Disney FYC site features the bios of Writer/Director, James Ford Murphy and Producer, Andrea Warren and will be updated over time to include additional "Media", "Press" and "Acclaim" information. LAVA has been winning over crowds on the film festival circuit and although its theatrical debut isn't set until June 19, 2015 alongside Inside Out.

'Disney Infinity 2.0' Disney Originals Out Now!

Hi everybody! Two months ago, Disney Infinity 2.0 released (most of) their Marvel Super Heroes line-up including characters from Avengers, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy. But now, enjoy the 2.0 Disney Originals line-up. You may notice there is a lack of characters, well that's because the focus on 2.0 is Marvel. Just like how Disney was the focus on 1.0. Anyways, the only 2.0 Disney characters that are not out now are Jasmine, who is planned to be in stores in 2015, and Crystal Mickey, who will come out Christmas Time 2014. Anyways, I myself recently got my hands on Baymax and don't worry, I have plans to get on Aladdin. Merida, Donald, and Stitch (who look the best from what I've seen). Anyways, you can get them now and see you soon!

What is your favorite 2.0 Disney Originals character?

The Pixar Points #8: Changing Stories and Plots

Hi everybody! The Good Dinosaur has been a rocky road for Pixar and one of the most shocking news stories of the movie (so far) is that the story has been "completely reimagined". This has caused Pixar fans to go crazy and try to figure out what has happened to the story. But they should remember Pixar stories usually do change, here's two examples.

  • Toy Story - An old idea of the story was to have the main character Tinny from Tin Toy and was going to have adventure about him being lost and being partners with an old ventriloquist dummy. Later, the story got changed and Tinny became the character of Buzz Lightyear and the dummy because the character of Woody.
  • Monsters, Inc. - An old idea for this movie was about a 32 year old man who had to face his fears through monsters who are always trying to scare him. Later, the main character became a monster and the human character became a girl and became younger.
Those were just couple examples on how Pixar's stories change. So, even if we don't know the new story yet for The Good Dinosaur we know it will probably turn out great and epic. See you soon!

What do you think the new Good Dinosaur story is?

Next Time on Pixar Points: Pixar's Villains (Coming November 8th)
