The Pixar Points #15: Pixar and 2015

Hi everybody! With 2014 leaving us, we are now looking forward to midnight for a new year. This year we didn't have any movies by Pixar, but we still got Party Central in front of Muppets: Most Wanted and Toy Story That Time Forgot on TV. This site posted 126 posts, counting this one, which have a couple errors and glitches that were in some of them, but overall the site did pretty alright. But now, we are looking at what Pixar has in store in 2015.

Post 197: The 'Toy Story 3' That Time Forgot

Hi everybody! There was a period of time when Disney broke from Pixar and made a company called Circle 7 Animation, which would have made sequels to the Disney-owned Pixar movies. One of the movies they pitched was a third Toy Story. Later, they closed the company and cancelled all of their projects. But now we have a idea of what their third movie would have been like.

Circle 7 Toy Story 3 - Image 15"It is difficult to say how this version of Toy Story 3 would have turned out because we never got to see the final product. Still, the version that we did get, that was masterful work from Pixar. Head over to the respective sites of Jim Martin and Shane Zalvin to see more of their work on the never-made film." -Pixar Times

I personally think this idea could have been a decent movie, but it would have most likely would have been nothing compared to the Pixar version that we got. Anyways, see you soon!

What do you think of this version of the film?

Post 196: Quickie: The Good New Logo

Hi everybody! With 2015 right around the corner, Pixar has been working on their plan for the year. The first being Inside Out being their first of two movies of the year and The Good Dinosaur which was planned for 2014, but got bumped to 2014 to change the story. Anyways, the second mentioned, The Good Dinosaur, now has a new news story.
"A press release promoting the 2015 lineup of Disney produced and distributed films was just released and included among the 15 films highlighted was Pixar's upcoming prehistoric flick, The Good Dinosaur. Along with the previously released concept artwork, the press release also included an updated logo for the film. Although this update isn't a drastic change from the previous version, we actually prefer it a bit more for its cleaner lines and more simplistic look.

Post 195: Quickie: Riley's Joyful Memories

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! In 172 days Pixar's next movie hits theaters in the US. We still have to wait but we still can get to see the progress they are making and today we have beautiful concept art and a official image from the film.

The first image is from a Pixar calendar that highlights their movies, including their future movies. This was the picture for June 2015, which shows a beautiful section the mind with memory orbs everywhere. I can't wait to see the final version of this scene in its glory.

The other image is a still that shows the emotions watching a joyful memory most likely Riley remembering her life in Minnesota probably after a bad day at her new school or the scene we saw in the recent trailer. Anyways, whatever is happening here we will out.

So those were two image about Inside Out. I haven't been this excited for a Pixar movie in a long time. We will just have to wait a while longer. See you soon!

What do you think of these images?

Pixar Review: 'For the Birds'

Hi everybody! Whenever I see a bird on a wire I think of a  certain Pixar project. It isn't the seagulls from Finding Nemo. It is actually this short which I'm going to review: For the Birds.

When a flock of birds settle on a telephone wire one big crazy birds wants to be with them. The little birds aren't really opened to this idea, so they decide to peck on him until he falls off the wire. But then after they taken him off, they realize that he was so heavy that they will now sling-shot up. Then all the little birds become naked and the crazy bird laughs at the embarrassed birds.

The Pixar Legacy:
This short does have tons of references in tons of Pixar's projects from Cars to a possible shout-out in the recent Toy Story That Time Forgot. Pixar did put effort in this project and you can tell, so they cared about the project. So, with that this short does have a Pixar legacy. But does it deserve it?

The Pixar Points #14: 'Cars 3' - Good or Bad?

Hi everybody! The Cars movies may not be Pixar's greatest movies, but personally I thought they were just fine. When the movie was confirmed I, like everyone else, was more excited for The Incredibles sequel that they also confirmed that day also. Cars 3 is one of the movie ideas that everyone is simply saying "NO!" to. But what about me? Do I think this is going to fail? Do I think this is going to be awesome? Let's find out!

Post 194: The Lighting That Time Forgot

Merry Christmas, everybody! If you love Pixar you are probably planning to watch Pixar's Toy Story That Time Forgot. So next time you watch the special be sure to check out the lighting.

"Pixar's Toy Story That Time Forgot may be full of new and exciting Battlesaur characters (as well as the fan-favorite Angel Kitty), but in our eyes the "character" taking center stage would be the lighting - yes, the lighting. When creating a Pixar film there are many key elements that are put into place from the story conception to the final render, but we feel that the technical achievements paired with Pixar's mastery of the medium add so much they're worth calling out in their own post. The lighting was wonderful throughout the special and while watching closely, we couldn't help but notice how brilliantly the light was used to support the rise in power of the Cleric.
The Cleric was our personal favorite character from the short. His rickety movements as he scooted along on his plastic wheels paired with Steve Purcell's (Director) brilliant vocal work for the character really solidified his placement as our favorite. What may not have been as obvious when you first watched the special is that the background lighting goes from a warm gold color when we're first introduced to his character, to a vibrant purple as he attempts to dispatch the Toy Story crew.

Post 193: 'Luxo, Jr.' - National Treasure

Hi everybody! Luxo, Jr. has been a Pixar classic, being one of the most amazing pieces of early Pixar works (Click here to see my review!) and fans of the short, animation, or Pixar are probably going to love hearing this news story.

"Luxo Jr. (1986) is one of Pixar’s famed short films for a number of reasons – it was the first short produced under the Pixar brand (previously, when the studio was a subsidiary of Lucasfilm, The Adventures of Andr√© and Wally B. was animated by a young John Lasseter), and the titular character has gone on to become the official mascot for the studio, appearing at the start of every Pixar project. The Luxo Jr. short was already close to the heart of the studio, but now it will live on through history, as the project is being preserved in the United States’ National Film Registry.

The Pixar Points #13: 'Incredibles' Sequel - Good or Bad?

Hi everybody! The Incredibles has been the number one most-wanted Pixar sequel ever and tons of fans were pleased to here that they are working on a sequel to the movie. But even though they are saying a 100% "YES!" on this, I am going to look carefully if this is necessary. So get ready to ask where your super suit is because I am going to ask the question: If an Incredibles sequel is needed.

Post 192: Quickie: The Joy Bags!

Inside OutHi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! 2014 is about to end and Pixar fans getting more and more excited for the release of two movies, the first of which to be Inside Out. The first full-length trailer got released recently this month and now every one is ready to watch the movie. We are aren't going to get a trailer for a while, but that doesn't mean we can't get any news stories until then!

This truly amazing photo shows the character Joy next to walls full of many different memories. We do not know yet what is in the bag, but my guess is that it is recently found memories. Also, because we don't know that much about the bag I also decided to name the bag the Joy Bag! (Which most likely I will make a running joke in future posts.) Because it is Pixar of course there is lots of awesome little details in this picture, including of the Joy Bag which has lots of stuff that is full of joy including candy. I hope we get man more photos in the next couple of months! See you soon!

What do you think of this picture and the Joy Bags?

Pixar Review: 'Geri's Game'

Hi everybody! I haven't posted that much recently, so I will try to make it up. Starting with reviewing a game of chess, Geri's Game!

An elder named Geri deiced it would be fun to play chess in the local park. But there is one little problem: no one is in the park currently. So he decides to play against himself. He gets pretty into it, he even tries to out smart himself! At the end he wins at gets himself dentures.

The Pixar Legacy:
Something that might be good to note is that the director of this short pitched the idea for Ratatouille but later got booted out of the project and got replaced by Brad Bird. Personally, I think this makes me wonder what his version would have been in the end if they haven't given it to Bird. Anyways, in Toy Story 2, Geri appears as a cleaner of Woody which is a pretty important plot element of the movie they gave to this character. So I will say that this short has a Pixar legacy. But do I think it deserves it?

Post 191: The First 'Inside Out' Full-Length Trailer Is Here!!

Hi everyone! Stop day dreaming about soccer and helicopter pilots because it is here! The first full-length trailer for Inside Out is here! What is it like? Will it be good? Let's find out!

"Moments ago, the first official full-length trailer for Pixar's insanely anticipated film, Inside Out, premiered on iTunes. The trailer highlights the inner workings of not only the emotions in Riley's head but also that of her Mom and Dad - which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. While the emotions are the same (Joy, Anger, Fear, Disgust and Sadness) their physical appearance in the 'headquarters' are a bit different in mom and dad (shown below). It was great to see the similarities, yet differences between the emotions (like the glasses on Mom and mustache on Dad's emotions).

With only six months until the release of the film (June 19, 2015), you can expect a lot more details, concept artwork and interviews until the film's release - which is of course great news for Pixar fans. Along with the new Inside Out trailer there was also a new and official synopsis of the film:
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
Check out the full trailer below on Disney UK's YouTube page or check it out directly on the Apple Trailers site."
NOTE: This is the version of the trailer shown above is the UK version, so the July release is for the UK. In the US we get it one month early.

Post 190: 'Inside Out' Answers Questions

Hi everybody! Before we look at the all-new trailer for Inside Out, let us look at today's Q and A session to see how it went.

Pete Docter, the brilliant mind behind Monsters, Inc., Up and the upcoming, Inside Out participated in a live question and answer session on Twitter this afternoon following the release of the first Inside Out full-length trailer. Pete answered questions ranging from the emotions in Inside Out to general questions about Pixar's studios and working with some amazing vocal talent. Be sure to read below for our summary of the 45-minute session.
Question (Q) Inside Out is all about emotions personified. Which emotion did you have the most fun bringing to life?
Pete Docter's Response (PD) - Anger. Wait, what does that say about me? Actually it's likely because Lewis Black was so great for the role.
(Q) How did you come up with the main character Riley, and all the emotions in her head? (PD) We did lots of research & talked to psychologists to find what emotions science has identified. (Actually there are more than 5, but we wanted to keep it simple for the film.) For Riley we looked at our daughters & their friends. People think we make this stuff up. Most is real life!

(Q) Joy is Riley’s main emotion. Which emotion is the most significant in your mind?
(PD) It’s impossible to pick one — each is important at different times. We don’t choose emotions, they choose us. But joy seems the most important to me - also the least logical. It's the hardest to define, but basically joy is the reason we take risks and try new things.

(Q) What is your biggest challenge when directing an animated film?

Post 189: 'Inside Out' Gets New Cast Members + NEW TRAILER TOMMOROW!

Hi everybody! With Toy Story That Time Forgot being premiered it is time to really get in-detail news stories about what Pixar has in store next! Starting with these new stories on the 15th animated movie, Inside Out!

"This afternoon we were treated (via USA Today) to additional details surrounding the vocal cast for the upcoming Pixar film, Inside Out. The director of the film, Pete Docter, revealed who Riley and her parents would be voiced by, but also included a few more notes regarding the story elements as well. Riley's Mother will be voiced by Diane Lane, her Father will be voiced by Kyle MacLachlan and Riley, the 11-year old girl who is the setting for the film's emotions will be voiced by Kaitlyn Dias.

Below we have summarized some of the additional details surrounding the parents from the USA Today post -
read the entire article here.
"These guys are the pillars on both sides," says Docter. "They are pivotal parts, knowing how joyful this kid Riley used to be and the young woman she's changing into."
So while Riley's mind is full of out-there comedic characters (particularly Joy), the parents are more "rooted in reality and very truthful," says Docter. "Both of those actors do that very well."
Inside Out takes viewers inside the mind of all three human characters. Dad's emotions have Headquarters like a Norad missile defense site and have mustaches. Very male. Meanwhile, Mom's Headquarters features emotions wearing her red glasses and who engage in civil discussion √† la The View.
"There's our world which we're conscientious of and looking at. So we're driving, eating dinner, whatever. And inside our head there's this whole rich internal dialogue and world no one else knows about," says Docter. "This film gets you inside each character's heads."

Post 188: Finding Details

This highly anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo has been shroud in secrecy with only few details emerging until now.

Post 186: The Nominations That Time Forgot

"Pixar's latest 30-minute television special, Toy Story That Time Forgot just received seven well deserved nominations across multiple categories for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards taking place on January 31, 2015. Pixar Review: 'Toy Story That Time Forgot'

Hi everybody! A couple days ago, the new special that all Pixar fans looked forward aired. Did I think it a good special? Was it a bad special? Let's find out!

Sometime after the magical time of the year the toy gang finds one of the newest toys. But then things see to get weird after a while and then after a series of events it is up to Trixie to save everyone.

Cast Highlights:
The original cast has returned! With Tim Allen and Tom Hanks as Buzz and Woody and Kristen Schaal as the main character of the special, Trixie. I really enjoyed the voice actors for Angel Kitty and Cleric, I forgot the voice actors but they were really good.

Post 185: The Easter Eggs That Time Forgot

If you were watching ABC yesterday, then you most likely saw the new Pixar Christmas special, Toy Story That Time Forgot! And of course, in classic Pixar style they put little hidden gems. Here is a look at all of them.

"In the opening holiday scene we are greeted by a familiar character, Knick Knack! Stuck in his signature snow globe he seems to fit into the scene so seamlessly that we nearly missed him. In the same frame our eyes were also drawn to a bird near the gingerbread house that resembles one of the characters from the short For The Birds. There was also an ornament on the Christmas tree that reminded us of the ending moon image from the short La Luna - though it could just be a coincidence.

Will you watch Toy Story That Time Forgot?

Post 184: 'Toy Story 4' - "Can't Talk About It"

Hi everybody! The confirming of Toy Story 4 has made many people wanting to know more on the movie. But right now all that they can say is, "Can't talk about it."

"This past week was a nice treat for Pixar fans, as Tim Allen and Rashida Jones stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on separate episodes to chat about their upcoming projects. Fallon took the time to ask each of them about their involvement with the recently announced, Toy Story 4. Tim, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, jokes about working with Tom Hanks. While Rashida, who is penning the fourth installment of the franchise, really got us laughing as she, "can't talk about it". Jimmy also had us rolling when he asked Rashida what it's like inside Pixar Studios - his idea of Pixar is that everyone is on hover boards eating astronaut ice cream!" -Pixar Post

Post 183: Quickie: The Clips That Time Forgot

Post 182: The Good New Story Element

Hi everybody! The Good Dinosaur is starting to get attention with news, probably to say that they are still working on the movie and that it is coming. And now we have a new piece of concept art and a new story element from the movie.

"The Good Dinosaur hits theaters less than one year from now (November 25, 2015) and Pixar announced the one-year countdown by releasing a new piece of concept artwork along with an updated synopsis. Although we had already updated the concept artwork on our earlier post, we also decided to read the synopsis again to check if it was also updated - sure enough it was. Although the details mostly remain the same, we were excited to catch one new story element in the new plot description - a mention of a traumatic event happening within Arlo's family.

The Good Dinosaur asks the generations-old question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In theaters November 25, 2015, the film is a humorous and exciting original story about Arlo, a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart. After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way - a human boy. “The Good Dinosaur” is an extraordinary journey of self-discovery full of thrilling adventure, hilarious characters and poignant heart.
So, what are your thoughts on the "traumatic event" which unsettles Arlo's family? What could this be?" -Pixar Post

Well, this is interesting! Could the "traumatic event" be a loss of a family member? Did their home get destroyed? Does Arlo get lost or banished? Well, whatever the big event is I hope that big entire movie is one big event for Pixar.

What do you think the "traumatic event" is?

The Pixar Points #11: 'Finding Dory' - Good or Bad?

Hi everybody! On April of 2013, I checked the latest Pixar news, I jumped with joy with the news about Pixar making a sequel to Finding Nemo called Finding Dory. But now I am going to think, is this movie going to be good or bad? I've gathered details and news about the movie and am going to look closely at this question. Enjoy!

Pixar Review: 'Knick Knack'

Hi everybody! Sick of feeling like you have nothing to do, like a snow globe on a shelf? Well, here is my review of Knick Knack!

Living your entire life in a snow globe blizzard can be very boring sometimes, while the other knacks get to be free, Knick is forever stuck. But hen, a knack from sunny Miami invites Knick to come and play. Knick now will do anything to escape and be with the blonde. From TNT, to jackhammers, and even using his nose he tries it all. But then after he realizes he is now almost going to fall off of the shelf, then one little push makes Knick fall off of the shelf. Then he falls into a fish tank with a knack from Atlantis, but there the problem of him being stuck in the snow globe.

The Pixar Legacy:
After Pixar did many challenging projects they wanted to do something easier. This short is mentioned in the first two Toy Stories and in the first Cars movie, so apparently John Lasseter still remembers and likes the job he did. There isn't that much to say, but there is still prove to say that this short has a Pixar Legacy.

Post 181: Quickie: Jumping for Joy

Hi everybody! Time for another News Quickie! It's the final Inside Out character profile and the of the week. But don't be sad because it is time to look at Joy.

Joy was Riley's first emotion she ever shown, until Sadness came along. She tries to be the leader of the other emotions, but that can be tricky. Joy is voiced by Amy Poehler who has voiced characters in animation before, mostly in T.V. and once and a while in movies. Some cool animation details about Joy is her wild and spikey hair and her bubbly appearance.

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for, the teaser trailer starring Joy and with her all-new piece of animation!
Joy looks like se is going to be an interesting character with her being the most important emotion, I feel like she is going to be one of most touching characters in the movie when it is released on June 19th. See you soon!

What is your favorite thing about Joy?

Post 180: Quickie: Party Pins!

Hi everyone! It's time for another News Quickie! This one is extremely short, because there are other posts that are being made. Also, I should tell you that posts can be late, so if I tell you a date for a release of a post you can expect it to be a bit late. Anyways, here is the news!
We all remember the 2012 short film, Partysaurus Rex, when it was released with the 3D version of Finding Nemo, and know you can get the short's pin! That is right! The short film we all know and love is know been given a pin. You can buy it on Amazon right here. I hope you enjoyed this very quick new story and I'll see you soon!
What is your favorite moment from the short?

Post 179: Reading Goes 'Inside Out'

We have already been seeing a lot of Pixar's Inside Out, a movie directed by Pete Doctor that will show people the little voices in your head, including a teaser trailer and the recent character posters and teasers. But now it is time to see what books the movie will have in store.

"We couldn't help but spread the word that a series of activity books, coloring books and reading books (including the amazing The Art of Inside Out) have been popping up on Amazon to pre-order. The books will be releasing between May - July 2015 and although that's a way off, it's still great to see the titles and merchandise (no covers have been released yet) already starting to appear for the highly anticipated film. We listed all of the titles sorted by release date below - click any title to pre-order the book.

-Pixar Post

Pixar usually offers great books that can get fans seeing a sneak peek or something new. I own last year's Monsters University yearbook, which acts like a real yearbook while adding stuff from the movie. I can't wait to see what lies in store for these books and I'll see you soon!

Which of these books sounds the most interesting?

Post 178: Quickie: Fear Fans

Hi everybody! It's time for another News Quickie! It is time to not fear, because the next character profile is Fear!

Fear is the emotion that tries to keep Riley safe from danger. Fear is voiced by Bill Hader who played two characters in Monsters University, the slug and the referee. And Bill will also voice a character in The Good Dinosaur, so is no stranger to Pixar. A couple of cool details about him is an antennae on his head and the old school animation floating eyebrows.

And here is the teaser with him, including an all-new piece of animation.

For some reason, I am really interested in Fear. I think it is because he looks most like a 2D animated character. I can't wait to see what Fear will get into on June 19th.
What is your favorite thing about Fear?
